Welcome to OpioidFree

Liberating reentry citizens from the constraints of opioid addiction

Established in 2022, OpioidFree is a digital health platform aimed at reducing opioid-related health morbidity and mortality among newly released citizens by connecting them to resources. We tackle criminogenic needs through chat channels that provide specific services. Our ultimate goal is to transform into an app through customer discovery.

Featured Event:

International Overdose Awareness Day

On September 10th, 2023, OpioidFree partnered with Mayor Hector C. Lora of the City of Passaic and the Passaic City Youth Council to host Passaic's first-ever International Overdose Awareness Day event. Held at the Passaic City Hall Annabelle Shimkowitz Senior Center, the event brought the community together to remember those lost to drug overdose and raise awareness about opioid addiction. Participants included members of the Passaic Fire and Police Departments, the Passaic City Health Department, United for Prevention Passaic County, Nurses from Medgar Evers College, and the Passaic City Alliance, all providing vital information on overdose prevention.

The day featured a candlelight vigil, informational booths, workshops, and an art station. Mayor Lora, serving as the keynote speaker, proclaimed August 31st as International Overdose Awareness Day in the City of Passaic. The event concluded with health demonstrations, distribution of COVID kits, fentanyl detection, Narcan sprays, and refreshments. For more information, select the button below.

Endorsements

"I want to highlight your efforts and your leadership because as individuals will see this video online, as your people become aware, as parents become aware, their response might be quicker. Now, they may be more aware or ask a question they otherwise wouldn't have asked, and indirectly, without even realizing, you have been part of serving lives. I commend you to that most noble and amazing and impactful initiative that you have started. This is the very first one, and like most initiatives in the City, it is small small steps in the beginning, but I can see this growing so much with our youth and our community."
